What the hell?!--I take a couple of weeks off, and all hell lets out for noon. Afghanistan, health care reform, financial industry reform, all shot to hell. Did I miss the return of Satan (or Dick Cheney) to the Earth, or something? What the hell is going on??
Obviously, this is going to take more than one quick post; but, with the dissolution of the health care bill in the Senate, I must take the time to say this:
NO PUBLIC OPTION, NO BILL.
I don't care if the Repugs howl, I don't care if the tea-partiers march in their hundreds, and I really don't care what crazy shit Michele Bachmann will have to say about it, reconciliation is the only way to save this thing. Screw the Repugs, to hell with the insurance whores like Lieberman, ram a GOOD bill through Congress, WITH a public option--hell, with single payer, even!--and let the chips fall where they may.
Otherwise, this is a crap bill without the public option/Medicare buy-in/single-payer, and Pres. Obama should NOT sign it. Let it take until next summer to get it right, but dammit, GET IT RIGHT OR NOT AT ALL.

It'll be much harder to fix later - if ever. So, I agree. It has to be done right the first time.
